Dr. Dia received his medical school education at the Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria, graduating in 1979. Following medical school Dr. Dia was an Internal Medicine Resident at Damascus University at Kings-Mill Hospital in Mansfield, England. Following residency training Dr. Dia was a Fellow in the Cardiology Department at Hammersmith Hospital Royal Postgraduate Medical School, London University, London, England. Upon completion of his training, Dr. Dia practiced medicine for approximately 7 years before entering the residency training program for Internal Medicine at Christ Hospital & Medical Center in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Dr. Dia served as Chief Resident his final year of residency training. Thereafter Dr. Dia completed a three year Fellowship training program in Cardiovascular Disease at Christ Hospital & Medical Center, serving as Chief Fellow in his final year of training.
